Ho Tien Precision Industry Co. was founded in 1976 and today is one of Taiwan’s foremost suppliers of top-end terminals and connectors for flat flexible cables (FFC) and flexible printed circuits (FPC), with an admirable reputation especially among large electronics manufacturing service (EMS) providers worldwide.
The company, which enjoys ISO 9000 certification, is noted for its staunch dedication to R&D. Its HT-8501 modular machine, commonly nicknamed “Powerful King Kong,” is the materialization of the company’s R&D capability. It was developed to help wire rod processing plants to reduce output defects in 1985, when the company had just begun mass production of telephone cables. Today, the HT-8501 is sold throughout the world as a quality-enhancement solution for cable manufacturers.
Unsatisfied with its success in cable manufacturing, Ho Tien diversified into connectors for the computer and electronic industries, thereby boosting its status a notch above that of its peers. In 1981 the company helped Foxconn to develop an ultra-thin Dupont connector that meets CE, UL, and CSA standards.
Ho Tien’s achievements attracted the attention of TE Connectivity, an internationally prominent connector supplier formerly known TYCO Electronics, which chose the Taiwan company as one of its designated contract suppliers of medical cable terminals. The company has also supplied connectors for use in satellite equipment to GPS device companies on an OEM (original equipment manufacturing) basis.
The company currently operates three factories that turn out a variety of terminals and connectors with 1.27mm and 2.54mm pitches, connector housings, crimping machines, and other products, which are widely used in membrane switches, transportation and communications equipment, aerospace instruments, medical devices, and household appliances.
