Leadteam Ballscrews Co., Ltd., founded in 1994, originally made ballscrews and now puts out 20,000 screws yearly, generating revenues of around NT$200 million (US$6.8 million).

A mechanical engineer trained at the National Cheng Kung University in southern Taiwan and company founder, T.C. Hsieh, developed Taiwan’s first ground ball screw when working as chief engineer at the then-operating Yang Iron Works. In 1982 and while working at another precision-machinery company he was sent to PGM of Britain to learn advanced ballscrew technology.

After opening his own business in 1988 to make precision valves for machinery, Hsieh set up Lead Team Ballscrews in 1994 and two others in a few years, having also launched Taiwan’s first seven-meter-long, full-stroke, single-annealed ballscrew.

The company, staffed with 230 employees, is ISO9001 and TUV certified and its subsidiaries each produce valve stems, valve balls, and linear guideways as well as offer stainless centrifugal casting process.

The company is branching into processing of magnesium alloys and other super alloys, aiming for medical and electronic applications.
